you need me on your program. i am going to generate a level of buzz for you that you have not experienced in quite some time. i recognize that you are really busy. there are a lot of big things  happening in the world today that you need to cover. picking up my story would capitalize on a huge media story (paula abdul leaving american idol) and add a twist: me coming to idol!

i hope you enjoy this sampling of what i can do. it is in no way indicative of the limits of my ability, but is intended to demonstrate the flexibility and versatility of my craft.

it is with great excitement and expectancy that i would like to throw my hat in the running to be the 4th judge on american idol. sure, i don’t have the “professional” experience that some of the other judges have, but this is exactly what gives me an edge. i know that you are already starting the search to fill her seat, so let me tell you what you need.

randy, simon and kara all have an abrasive edge to them. i think this is good for the contestants, they should know what it is like to face real criticism in the business. i bring a lighter, happier feel that will balance out the table. i am not looking to crush anyone’s dream. i am going to make dreams a reality on the show. just the right people’s dreams. i mean, seriously, sanjaya? really, guys? really? not on my watch.

i will also add new, creative blood to the mix. here is what i’m thinking: pair each of the finalists with someone in the industry to mentor them throughout the show. ryan, i love what  you have done in your role. after so many years though, you might want switch things up. why don’t you repel in from the roof? ride in on a hover board? or saddle up on ruben studdard and have him gallop in on the gentle giant? people pay big money for this kind of stuff, guys.

speaking about buying things, i’m cheap. i know you are paying everyone else millions of dollars to work for about 6-7 months out of the year. give me 1 million for the year and i’ll be happy about it. think about all the press i would generate, “from a nobody to an idol of idols,” “man from palm beach, fl makes a splash on idol. producers see ratings soar and endorsements roll in.” just think about the possibilities! i am a relatable “everyman” type of guy. i could be your friend, your brother, your sharp tounged, quick witted co-worker. the talk shows would be all over it. i’m totally down to do all the press you would like me to. seriously, will do the today show, regis & kelly, conan, jay leno….i would even go to the view. those cougs would LOVE me! i have a total way with middle age women, they are totally my target demographic.

i know that i said that i don’t have a “professional” entertainment background, but don’t get me wrong, i’m good. you are welcome to peruse my blog for some hilariously entertaining video blogs. you should also know that i am a member of the dream team. all that you need to know about that is that it is dreamy. i was a thespian in high school, i had a stamped certificate and everything. if you need me to ham it up for tv or do anything crazy, i definitely have the acting chops to make it believable.

i don’t want take anymore of your time, but i know that i am the right person for this job. i believe in this show; kelly and carrie are two of my favorite artists (by the way, do you guys have any pull in getting kelly a personal trainer?). life is full of risks. i know that choosing me is a risk, but know that  you will not be disappointed.

she was always so sweet to me. i remember seeing her wearing her “rock camp” snap bracelet last year just about every day. whenever i saw her, she told me that she was praying for camp (and for my sanity). she didn’t say it because she was being church-y. she said it because she was. that’s just who she was. several people during the service commented on how special she made you feel; like no one else in the world even existed. she would always help me with projects, brighten my day with her big smile and tell me how much she loved me. she did that for everyone; she had so much love in her heart.

when i moved back to wpb from orlando, i went to the church several times. i always made sure to go visit pam. without fail, she would say “i prayed you back, you know.” i know. i am so grateful for each of those moments.

if there is something to be learned from pam’s life, i think it would be to never miss the opportunity to flash a smile, give a hug, or mean an “i love you.” i pray that i could love people half as much as she did; to breathe happiness and love into every situation i step into.

…it is pretty uncommon that they would steal a car to avoid it.

at 18 years old, kids “age-out” of foster care and are technically on their own. leaving a place where they are loved and cared for and going into the big, bad, scary world is a terrifying transition. i think it is hard enough for people coming from a traditional home environment.

anyway, one of my boys is about to turn 18 in a few months. he is terrified. terrified to fail, to be a statistic, to not break the cycle, to do his children one day what has been done to him. those are legitimate fears. i share some of them, and you probably do too. his fear is so crippling that he has himself convinced he will fail at whatever he touches. the truth of the matter is that he has a lot of people around him here that would help him break any falls and pick up the pieces whenever he messes up. lack of trust and fear…a deadly combo. not only does he have a support system here, but he is beyond competent to tackle the hurdles in front of him. and i hate that he won’t try. (if you think about it, pray for him). he will make it. he won’t (always) fail, he won’t be a statistic, he will break the cycle, and he won’t put his children through the same pain he has experienced.

i have been thinking about his situation and how in many ways it is a reflection of me and my relationship with God. i don’t trust the way i should. i fear more than i should. i don’t always care to jump the hurdles. but what could i do if i trusted a little more, feared a little less, and jumped a little higher? what could you do? how different would our world be?

…but i want to know what this crazy lady did to get so ripped!
